Biography

Anthony E. Oro, M.D., Ph.D., holds the position of Eugene Gloria Bauer Professor of Dermatology at Stanford University and is an Associate Director at the Center for Definitive Curative Medicine and Co-Director of the Child Health Research Institute. He is an active member of several research institutions including the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, and the Cancer Biology program. His research focuses on cancer genomics, tumor evolution, stem cell biology, hair and skin development, and regeneration, as well as developing definitive molecular and cellular therapeutics. Clinical interests span the spectrum from hair biology to non-melanoma skin cancers and stem cell-based therapies for genetic skin diseases. Dr. Oro earned his medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and completed a residency in dermatology at Stanford University. He is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and has been actively involved in clinical trials exploring innovative treatments for skin disorders including basal cell carcinoma and epidermolysis bullosa. In addition to his clinical and research roles, he has made significant contributions to education in dermatology, guiding graduate and postdoctoral students in their research endeavors.
