Dr. Anthony Stranges

Biography

Anthony N. Stranges is an Associate Professor in the History Department at Texas A&M University, where he instructs courses focusing on United States History and the history of science. Stranges holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degrees in Chemistry from Niagara University, New York, and a PhD in History of Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His research primarily explores the intersection of history and chemistry, including the history of synthetic fuels during World War II, the development of solar wind energy, and the socio-environmental implications of acid rain and global warming. He has participated in various scholarly conferences, presenting papers on these topics to esteemed organizations such as the History of Science Society and the American Chemical Society. Stranges has published extensively in top-tier journals including Isis and Annals of Science, as well as producing five significant books on the history of science, with works that trace scientific discoveries and their impact on modern society.
