Biography

Anthony Tang, MD, FRCPC, is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Currently, Dr. Tang works as a Staff Electrophysiologist in the Division of Cardiology at London Health Sciences Centre, where he serves as the Chair of Cardiovascular Population Health. He obtained his MD from the University of Toronto and completed his clinical training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Ottawa. His research focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, with particular interest in heart failure patients. Over the past 15 years, he has conducted international multi-center clinical trials, including research involving Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD). His findings have significantly influenced treatment strategies for heart failure patients with compromised left ventricular function and electrical dyssynchrony. Dr. Tang is currently overseeing research funded by CIHR that examines treatment options for atrial fibrillation in heart failure patients. As an internationally recognized researcher, he frequently speaks at national and international conferences and serves as a peer reviewer for multiple scientific journals. His publication record includes 140 peer-reviewed papers, 5 book chapters, and 270 abstracts.
