Biography

Dr. Anthony Yeung is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta and serves as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies. He obtained his doctorate in Physics from the University of British Columbia in 1994. After a post-doctoral fellowship, he was hired by Syncrude Canada Ltd. as a Research Scientist, focusing on colloid and interface science, particularly in applications related to bitumen demulsification and froth treatment. Dr. Yeung returned to academia in 2000 and has since focused his research on microinterfacial phenomena, mechanics of thermodynamics, fluid-fluid interfaces, and two-dimensional transport phenomena. His work has significant applications in emulsions, oil sands processing, and the behavior of macromolecules at fluid-fluid interfaces. As a project leader at the Centre for Oil Sands Innovation, he emphasizes both theoretical and experimental aspects of his research, which is crucial for understanding and manipulating the stability of liquid-liquid dispersions in various industrial and biological contexts.
