Biography

Antoine E. Naaman is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Michigan, specializing in Civil Environmental Engineering. With a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he has dedicated over 50 years to research in the field of civil engineering. His research particularly focuses on prestressed and partially prestressed concrete, high-performance fiber reinforced cement-based composites, and innovative material optimization for structural applications. Naaman has significantly contributed to the development of Ultra-High Performance Fiber Reinforced Cement composites, emphasizing their practical implementation in structural engineering. He is a Fellow of several prestigious organizations including the American Concrete Institute and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Alongside his research, he has served as Associate Editor for the Journal of Cement and Concrete Composites since 1992, and has been actively involved in various technical committees aimed at advancing the field of civil engineering.
