Biography

Antoine Picon is the G. Ware Travelstead Professor of History, Architecture, and Technology at Harvard Graduate School of Design, where he serves as the Director of Doctoral Programs and the PhD Program. He is an engineer, architect, and historian whose work focuses on the relationships between architectural and urban space, technology, and society from the eighteenth century to the present. His notable publications include 'Digital Culture Architecture' (2010), 'Ornament: Politics Architecture Subjectivity' (2013), and 'Materiality Architecture' (2021). Picon is particularly interested in the impact of digital culture on architecture, exploring how recent advances in artificial intelligence transform architectural materiality. He has received numerous accolades, including the Médaille de la Ville de Paris and the Georges Sarton Medal from the University of Gand. In 2010, he was elected to the French Académie des Technologies, and in 2015, he became a member of the French Académie d’Architecture. He has also been the Chairman of Fondation Le Corbusier since 2013.
