Dr. Antoinette Handley

Biography

Antoinette Handley is a Professor and Vice-Dean of Graduate Education at the Department of Political Science, University of Toronto. Her research interests include Comparative Politics, with specific emphasis on African Politics, particularly Southern Africa, and the Political Economy of Epidemics such as HIV/AIDS. She explores the dynamics of political economy reform in developing countries and the relationships between business and government actors. Antoinette has a distinguished academic background, holding a PhD from Princeton University, an MPhil from the University of Oxford, and an MESc from the University of Natal. She has authored several significant publications including 'Business Social Crisis Africa' published by Cambridge University Press in 2019, and 'Business State Africa: Economic Policy-Making in the Neo-Liberal Era' released in 2008. Antoinette's work contributes substantially to understanding complex political and social issues facing African states.
