Professor Dr. Anton Chyrkin

Biography

Anton Chyrkin is a Visiting Researcher specializing in Energy Materials within the field of Chemical Engineering at Chalmers University. His research primarily focuses on high-temperature corrosion of metallic materials, notably nickel-based superalloys that are extensively utilized in gas turbine technology. Chyrkin's studies aim to develop innovative modeling approaches to quantitatively describe degradation phenomena in high-temperature materials, while also aiming to understand the underlying corrosion mechanisms that dictate the lifetime limits of these materials in specific applications. At present, he is involved in developing a novel workstation to conduct in-situ studies of corrosion processes and to analyze nano-scale corrosion products. Additionally, he is participating in a project centered on solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), where he is investigating the fundamental aspects of degradation mechanisms associated with the oxidation of high-alloyed ferritic steels when exposed to dual atmospheres.
