Anton Isaacs is a public health physician and researcher based at Monash Rural Health. His research focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of mental health and wellbeing services aimed at improving the lives of individuals experiencing psychological distress and severe mental health challenges. Notably, he has developed and implemented a rural mental health service in Karnataka, India called MAANASI, and has co-designed a model for the early detection of mental health issues among Aboriginal men, known as Koori Men's Health Day. Isaacs has co-edited a special issue on mental health services and suicide prevention strategies for Indigenous populations in the journal Advances in Mental Health. He serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Frontiers in Health Services, and has been a guest editor for a special issue of Interventions for suicide prevention in the journal Injury Prevention. His ongoing research interests include mental health services research, suicide prevention models, and digital mental health care. Isaacs is also involved in supervising Masters and PhD students focused on various aspects of mental health services research.
