Dr. Antonia Maioni

Biography

Professor Maioni’s research interests include public policy, healthcare reform, comparative politics, and Canadian Quebec politics. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles and book chapters. Her research has received funding from organizations such as the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Fulbright, Universities Canada, and the Max Bell Foundation. Additionally, she is an Associate Member of the Department of Family Medicine, Department of Political Science, and the Desautels Faculty of Management. In Fall 2022, she served as an Associate Fellow at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University in Bologna, Italy. Currently, she is the William Lyon Mackenzie King Visiting Professor of Canadian Studies at Harvard University for the academic year 2023-24, and a member of the Canada Program at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs, where she will teach in the Department of Government. Previously, Professor Maioni held the position of Dean of Arts at McGill University from 2016 to 2021, and Associate Vice President of Research and International Relations from 2014 to 2016. She has contributed to the Canadian political conversation as a columnist for the Globe and Mail and as a political analyst for CTV News. She served as President of the Canadian Federation for Humanities and Social Sciences and is a member of the Board of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, participating in various organizations dedicated to education, mentoring, and research. From 2023 to 2026, she is participating as a Fellow in the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s Canadian Foreign Policy Research Cycle.
