Dr. Antonietta Mira

Biography

Antonietta Mira is a professor of statistics and the founding director of the Data Science Lab at Università della Svizzera italiana. Her extensive academic career includes serving as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economics from 2013 to 2015, and she has held part-time professorships at Università dell'Insubria. She is a fellow of the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere and the International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA). Mira has been a visiting fellow at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences at Cambridge University, visiting professor at numerous institutions including Université Paris-Dauphine and the University of Western Australia. Her research interests lie in Bayesian statistical models, efficient Monte Carlo simulation algorithms, and methodological computational statistics with applications in social science, finance, and health. As a principal investigator on projects funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, she has published over 50 articles and books. Mira has also served on editorial boards for high-impact journals and is actively involved in public engagement related to data science, having organized public lectures and delivered invited talks at international conferences.
