Biography

Professor Di Ieva received his Medical Degree in 2002 specializing in Neurosurgery in 2007 in Italy. He initially worked as a consultant neurosurgeon in Milan, primarily treating brain pituitary tumors while collaborating with ENT and craniomaxillofacial surgeons. He pursued research at the Centre for Anatomy and Cell Biology at the Medical University of Vienna, completing a PhD in Clinical Neurosciences focused on innovative neuropathology and MRI techniques. In 2012, he was appointed Associate Professor of Neuroanatomy and has since engaged in teaching across multiple countries. After completing a clinical and research fellowship in skull base surgery in Toronto, he moved to Sydney in 2015 and became a full-time consultant neurosurgeon. His clinical expertise encompasses neuro-oncology, skull base surgery, and minimally invasive neurosurgery. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to educational texts in neurosurgery. His research interests lie in neuroanatomy, neuroimaging, and computational neurosciences, particularly in developing new diagnostic and therapeutic markers for neurosurgical diseases. He established the Computational NeuroSurgery Lab at Macquarie University to further explore these areas.
