Biography

Antonio Maffei is an Associate Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, focusing on production systems, sustainable business models, and novel automation technologies. He served as chair of the XPRES initiative for excellence in production research from 2014 to 2021 and is a member of the steering group for the newly formed XPRES center. His research interests encompass sustainable business models, automation technologies, autonomous system control, assembly systems technology, and cyber-security. Maffei is also involved in pedagogic research development, where he emphasizes constructive alignment and blended learning. He has played a significant role in national and international research initiatives, having participated in over 10 projects and published more than 60 scientific contributions across journals, books, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings. Maffei received his PhD in production systems from KTH in 2012, and additionally obtained a PhD degree in pedagogy for higher education from Bologna, Italy, in 2021. He is actively engaged in teaching various courses related to production engineering and technology at KTH.
