Biography

Antonio Meola, M.D., Ph.D., graduated Summa cum Laude with Research Honors from the University of Pisa, Italy in 2008. He completed his residency training in Neurosurgery in July 2015. Dr. Meola pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Florence, Italy, focusing on a doctoral thesis titled 'A New Head-Mounted Display-based Augmented Reality System in Neurosurgical Oncology: Study on Phantom.' He completed a research fellowship in Neurosurgical Anatomy at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, concentrating on surgical neuroanatomy and white matter tracts of the human brain. Subsequently, he served as a Clinical Fellow in Image-Guided Neurosurgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he integrated advanced imaging techniques into clinical practice. Dr. Meola then completed a Neurosurgical Oncology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, focusing on minimally-invasive techniques including Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery. In July 2017, he joined the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University, where he primarily aims to innovate treatments for brain and skull base tumors through both conventional and advanced techniques.
