Dr. Anupam Gupta

Biography

Anupam Gupta is an adjunct faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University in the Computer Science Department. His research interests lie primarily in Algorithms and Complexity, with a particular focus on Network Design and Metric Embeddings. Gupta's work involves addressing questions of network design optimization, considering the challenges of satisfying communication requirements while dealing with uncertainties about user data. He explores the structure of metric spaces, leveraging this understanding to develop algorithms for a variety of problems. His innovative approach often involves mapping complex metrics to simpler metrics, which helps provide algorithms that can efficiently address computationally challenging problems such as the Travelling Salesman Problem.
