Biography

Anya Rader Wallack is a Professor of the Practice in the Department of Health Services, Policy Practice at Brown University’s School of Public Health. She serves as the Administrative Director of the Advance-RI Clinical Translational Research Program at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine. Anya has extensive experience in state health policy, having previously held positions such as Director of HealthSource RI, the state's health insurance exchange, and Medicaid Director. She also served as Acting Secretary of Health and Human Services in Rhode Island. Her experience includes chairing Vermont’s Green Mountain Care Board and serving as a Special Assistant for Health Reform to the Governors of Vermont. Additionally, Anya was interim President of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts Foundation and Executive Director of the Massachusetts Medicaid Policy Institute, specializing in state health policy consulting. Anya holds a Ph.D. in social policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University. She has provided her expertise in health policy education at Brown University by leading the Health Policy Course in the Executive Masters of Health Care Leadership Program and guest lecturing in masters and PhD health policy courses at the Brown School of Public Health.
