Aoife’s research focuses on understanding systemic environmental challenges related to the climate crisis and the associated system transitions, particularly in the context of business. She holds a joint appointment at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and Saïd Business School. As a Co-Investigator at Oxford Net Zero, Aoife works closely with the engagement team to develop a range of action research projects designed to drive ambitious climate action. She leads the business model workstream for CO2RE, an Oxford-led interdisciplinary consortium focused on evaluating economically, socially, and environmentally scalable carbon dioxide removal options. Additionally, Aoife is a Co-founder of the Sustainable Inclusive Innovation Africa initiative, which supports startups across the African continent to accelerate progress towards sustainable development. This initiative builds upon her ESRC-funded project RISE (Renewable Innovative Scalable Electrification), where she served as the Principal Investigator from 2018 to 2020. Prior to her role at the University of Oxford, she was a senior researcher at the Group Sustainability Technology (SusTec) at ETH Zurich. Aoife received her PhD from Judge Business School, University of Cambridge, as well as an MA from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University and a BA in European Studies from Trinity College, Dublin.
