Dr. Apostolos Tsiachristas

Biography

Apostolos Tsiachristas is an Associate Professor at the University of Oxford within the Medical Sciences Division. His primary research focuses on health economics, specifically economic evaluation and new models of care for individuals with mental health and multi-morbidity conditions. He leads the Oxford Mental Health Economics and Policy (OMHEP) group and has conducted experimental and observational studies across various clinical areas. Tsiachristas has secured more than £5 million in research funding from UK organizations such as the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the Wellcome Trust, as well as the European Commission. He also holds an honorary contract with the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities in the UK, advising on matters related to mental health economics policy and acts as a scientific advisor to the World Health Organization. His extensive work, with over 80 scientific publications and presentations at prestigious conferences, has made him a recognized expert in the field, influencing health policy and clinical guidelines. Apostolos is involved in teaching and mentoring students in health economics and holds editorial positions in scientific journals, being an active member of committees.
