Dr. April Brown

Biography

Dr. April Brown received her B.S.E.E. from North Carolina State University in 1981. She completed her M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. at Cornell University in 1984 and 1985, respectively. After working at Hughes Research Laboratories from 1986 to 1993, she spent a year at the Army Research Office Physics Division in 1988. In 1994, she joined the Georgia Institute of Technology as an Associate Professor, and was promoted to Professor in 1999. She served as Associate Dean of the College of Engineering from 1999 to 2001 and as Executive Assistant to the President from 2001 to 2002, receiving the Pettit Professorship in Microelectronics in 2001. April joined Duke University as a Professor and Chair in July 2002. She has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2011 and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 1998, and received the Paul Rappaport Award from the IEEE Electron Devices Society in 1992.
