Dr. April Brown

Biography

April Brown is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, specializing in nanoelectronic materials and devices. She received her B.S.E.E. from North Carolina State University in 1981, followed by an M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1984 and 1985, respectively. After her education, she worked at Hughes Research Laboratories from 1986 to 1993 and had a notable position at the Army Research Office in the Physics Division in 1988. Dr. Brown joined Georgia Institute of Technology in 1994 as an Associate Professor, where she was promoted to Professor in 1999 and held the title of Associate Dean of the College of Engineering from 1999 to 2001. She became the Executive Assistant to the President from 2001 to 2002, and in 2001, she was named Pettit Professor of Microelectronics. In July 2002, she joined Duke University as a Professor and Chair. Dr. Brown has received numerous awards and honors, including being named a Fellow of the American Physical Society in 2011 and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 1998. Her research focuses on various aspects of nanoelectronic materials, making significant contributions to the field through numerous publications in prestigious journals.
