Dr. Aprotim Bhowmik

Biography

Aprotim Bhowmik is an internal medicine resident physician at Yale School of Medicine. He was raised in Atlanta, GA, and has a younger brother. He studied electrical engineering at Stanford University, focusing on machine learning in medicine. After earning a master's degree in education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he concentrated on teaching and learning in urban communities of color, he spent a year teaching mathematics at Milton Academy in Milton, MA. Dr. Bhowmik earned his medical degree from Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, where he worked with incarcerated and unhoused patients. He also obtained a master's degree in public health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, focusing on structural determinants of health. His clinical research interests lie at the intersection of preventive health and social determinants of health (SDOH), with a particular emphasis on improving cardiovascular health in urban communities of color and increasing access to primary care and outpatient cardiology clinics. In his free time, Dr. Bhowmik enjoys spending time with his partner, Titi, and their Catahoula Leopard dog, Coco.
