Biography

Aram Harrow is a Professor in the Physics department at MIT, whose research focuses on quantum information computing. He received his undergraduate degree in mathematics and physics in 2001 and concluded his PhD in physics in 2005, both from MIT. Before joining MIT as an assistant professor in 2013, he served as a lecturer in the math and computer science departments at the University of Bristol for five years and as a research assistant professor at the University of Washington for two years. He was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2018 and to full Professor in 2022. Harrow’s significant work includes contributions to theoretical quantum information science, particularly in the domains of quantum algorithms and the role of quantum information in many-body physics.
