Biography

Areti Chavale is a Lecturer in Management at the Adam Smith Business School, working at the intersection of art, business, and law. She obtained her BA from Oxford Brookes University and an MLitt through a joint program with Christie's Education at the University of Glasgow. Areti has gained a decade of work experience in the art market, primarily in auction houses, museums, and galleries. She completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow with an interdisciplinary dissertation titled 'Artist's Resale Right Art Market: Evidence British Art Auctions.' Her work also emphasizes the impact of knowledge exchange between the academic, business, and policy worlds. Areti serves as the Deputy Director for the Dissertation Convenor for the MSc Marketing Online and the Deputy Director for Professional Pathways. She is also a member of the school's Marketing Research Cluster, and her areas of expertise include the art market and business, creative industries, and cultural economics. Recently, she was involved in a grant for an educational development project aimed at effectively educating students from perspectives that encompass the postgraduate experience across the University of Bristol and University of Glasgow Business Schools. Areti has contributed to teaching in Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Management, and Strategic Marketing Management, and has received recognition as an Associate Fellow of the RET (Recognizing Excellence in Teaching).
