Biography

Areti Theofilopoulou is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warwick, where she serves as the Director of the Centre for Empirical Legal Studies. Her research focuses on moral, political, and legal philosophy, with particular interests in criminal law, family law, and the ethics surrounding these areas. She is currently engaged in projects addressing domestic violence, especially emotional abuse, as well as toxic workplace environments. Before her appointment at Warwick, Areti was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Birmingham and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hong Kong and the Czech Academy of Sciences. She holds a DPhil in Philosophy from the University of Oxford, as well as a MSc in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Warwick. Areti is actively involved in academic research and encourages inquiries from prospective PhD supervisees particularly when their proposals align with her research interests.
