Biography

Arghya Paul is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair at Western University in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. His research focuses on the development of advanced cell-instructive materials and biotherapeutics, with particular emphasis on mechanically robust nanocomposite hydrogels for tissue regeneration and wound healing applications. The Paul Biointel Research Laboratory aims to innovate material-based therapeutics, investigate stem cell-material interactions at the molecular level, and devise therapeutic strategies for point-of-care patient applications. Prior to joining Western, Dr. Paul served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in programmable nanomaterials at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology Engineering from WBUT, India, a Masters in Biotechnology, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from McGill University. Dr. Paul has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals and has received funding from prestigious organizations such as the National Institutes of Health and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. In recognition of his innovative contributions, he was awarded the 2018 Young Innovator Award by the Cellular and Molecular Engineering Biomedical Engineering Society.
