Biography

Arhat Virdi is a Senior Fellow in Finance and Economics at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, where he also serves as a Senior Lecturer in Economics at Oriel College, Oxford. In addition, he is an adjunct member of the Economics Faculty at Hong Kong University and a Research Associate at the London School of Economics (LSE). Arhat is a Fellow of the Institute of Faculty of Actuaries and the Higher Education Academy. Before returning to Oxford, he was on the Senior Management team at the Bermuda Monetary Authority, where he worked as Director of Policy, Research, and Risk. His previous roles have included Fellow in Economics at LSE, Research Fellow in Philosophy and Economics at the University of Bielefeld, and Lecturer in Economics at City University (London). Arhat holds a Double First in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from Oxford and a Distinction in MSc Philosophy & Economics from LSE. His doctoral research focused on Philosophy at LSE. His research interests encompass methodological issues in Economics, the objectivity of Financial Reporting, and the applications of Game Theory to real-world scenarios. He has extensive consulting experience, having worked with governmental bodies in Germany, Kazakhstan, and the UK. His teaching is marked by a focus on discipline and an in-depth study of issues, and he has received consecutive years’ accolades as an Economics teacher at LSE.
