Biography

Ari Kaplan is a pension benefits lawyer, mediator, and arbitrator who currently serves as a part-time professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa. He is the principal of Kaplan Law, a dispute resolution law firm located in Toronto. Ari is currently pursuing a PhD in Law with a focus on emotion at Western University in London, Ontario. He leads wellness workshops for professionals and trustees and has developed a course on Law and Emotions for law schools in Canada. He is the author of the 'Toronto Method Mindfulness Handbook: Six Lessons in Embodied Compassionate Meditation,' which has been recognized for its contributions to legal professionalism and EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) by the Law Society of Ontario. His work in Pension Law was awarded the Walter Owen Book Prize for outstanding new contribution to Canadian legal literature and has been cited in seven decisions by the Supreme Court of Canada.
