Dr. Arian Behzadi

Biography

Arian Behzadi, MD, FRCPC, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. His work encompasses clinical, academic, and editorial efforts that reflect a commitment to advancing the integration of psychoanalytic theory with contemporary psychiatry, neuroscience, and cultural studies. Dr. Behzadi's robust foundation in neuroscience was established during his postdoctoral research on dopamine systems at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, followed by a clinical fellowship focused on trauma-informed therapy at Women’s College Hospital. He serves as the Program Lead for the Psychological Trauma Clinic at Scarborough Health Network and is a faculty member at the Toronto Psychoanalytic Institute. His teaching primarily emphasizes trauma-informed care, dynamic psychotherapy, and the application of psychoanalytic thought in clinical practice and culture. Dr. Behzadi's research interests are in psychotherapy, neuroimaging, trauma, and addiction, contributing to both clinical expertise and academic scholarship.
