Biography

Ariana J. Valle is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of California, Davis. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and has also earned her M.A. and B.A. in Sociology and Economics, respectively. Valle's research interests focus on the intersections of immigration, race, and ethnicity, particularly examining political sociology and Latina/o/x sociology and politics. She is skilled in qualitative methods and has contributed significantly to the field. Valle has received several accolades, including the Latina Futures 2050 Lab Fellow and the Society Hellman Fellow for the years 2023-2024. Additionally, she was honored with the Distinguished Contribution Research Article Award by the American Sociological Association Section on Latina/o Sociology in 2024, along with the Maria Cristina Riegos Student Paper Award and the Aristide Zolberg Distinguished Student Scholar Award in previous years. Her dedication to advancing multicultural perspectives is reflected in her role as a Faculty Fellow within the Social Sciences, Arts, and Humanities. Valle teaches courses on immigration, race relations, and the deconstruction of Latino identities.
