Dr. Ariane De Bremond

Biography

Ariane de Bremond is an Associated Senior Research Scientist and Executive Officer at the International Programme Office of the Global Land Programme within the Centre Development Environment at the University of Bern. With a professional focus on land system science, she coordinates efforts related to global land governance and land-use conflicts, emphasizing the science-policy interface and the co-design and co-production of sustainable land systems. Her field experience spans a decade in Central America and West Central Africa. Her research interests include land-based carbon mitigation, conservation schemes, and the ecological dimensions of land tenure and governance in post-conflict societies. She has published on various topics including climate resilience, integrated assessment adaptation practices, and the linkage between climate change and development goals. Additionally, de Bremond has contributed to major projects such as NASA's Land-Cover Land-Use Change program and the Global Land Programme. She is also multilingual, fluent in English and Spanish, with professional proficiency in French, which enhances her capability in international collaboration and research dissemination.
