Dr. Aric Short

Biography

Aric Short is a Professor of Law and Director of the Professional Identity & Leadership Development Program at Texas A&M University School of Law. His academic journey began with a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was an honors student and contributed as an Associate Editor for the Texas Law Review. Short has held various administrative roles, including Vice Dean and Interim Dean at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. His experiences in law firms across Washington, D.C., and Austin, Texas, shaped his understanding and passion for housing rights and the responsibilities of lawyers in society. He emphasizes the importance of professionalism and integrity in the practice of law, aiming to inspire his students through challenging coursework in Constitutional Law, torts, and property law. Short’s scholarship primarily investigates existing laws that protect vulnerable tenants from harassment, contributing to discussions in human rights litigation within U.S. courts. An advocate for student development, he has been recognized multiple times as a 1L Professor of the Year and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas A&M Association of Students. In addition to his teaching, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching youth sports, and baking.
