Biography

Arisa Ortiz, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and the Director of Laser Cosmetic Dermatology at UC San Diego Health. She specializes in the latest noninvasive procedures, including laser skin resurfacing, dermal filler and toxin injections, body contouring, skin tightening, and scar treatments. Dr. Ortiz has a strong focus on providing gender-affirming care for transgender and nonbinary patients and is a frequent speaker at major dermatology conferences. She currently serves as the President of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and is on the editorial board of prestigious dermatology journals, including the Journal of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. Dr. Ortiz has published over 60 original medical articles and book chapters that detail new innovations in cutaneous laser surgery. She completed her laser cosmetic dermatology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and has additional fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery from UC San Diego. With a medical degree from Albany Medical College, Dr. Ortiz is recognized with multiple awards including Newsweek’s America’s Dermatologists and the Exceptional Women in Medicine award.
