Biography

Arjumand Siddiqi is a Professor and Canada Research Chair in Population Health Equity at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and a Senior Scientist at the Edwin S.H. Leong Chair in Child Policy Research at SickKids Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He is appointed in Sociology, Public Policy, and Women and Gender Studies, and he is a Senior Fellow at Massey College. Dr. Siddiqi holds Adjunct Professorships at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research focuses on understanding the nature and causes of health inequities, with particular emphasis on the influences of social policies and societal conditions. He collaborates with organizations, governments, and international agencies to address social determinants of health, inequalities, and related issues. He is a member of the World Health Organization Commission on Social Determinants of Health and received the 2022 Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Institute of Population and Public Health Mid-Career Trailblazer Award. He earned his doctorate in Social Epidemiology from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
