Biography

Arjun Venkatesh is the Anthony N. Brady Professor and Chair of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, as well as Chief of Emergency Services at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is a nationally recognized physician-scientist and healthcare leader who has authored approximately 250 peer-reviewed publications and secured over $12 million in federal and foundation funding to advance quality measurement in health outcomes research, particularly in acute care settings. Dr. Venkatesh serves as the Principal Investigator of the Emergency Quality Network (E-QUAL), the largest national practice-based research network in emergency care. His work has significantly influenced national policy development regarding quality measures and the Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings. After earning his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, he completed an MBA at Ohio State University and his medical education at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He went on to complete his Emergency Medicine residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital through the Harvard-affiliated program, followed by a clinical scholars program at Yale University. Dr. Venkatesh focuses his research on topics including Emergency Medicine, Health Care Quality, and Health Services Research, amongst others.
