Biography

Arka Majumdar is a professor in the departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at the University of Washington. He received his B. Tech. from IIT Kharagpur in 2007, where he was honored with the President’s Gold Medal. He completed his M.S. in 2009 and Ph.D. in 2012 in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. After a year at the University of California, Berkeley (2012-2013) and Intel Labs (2013-2014) as a postdoctoral researcher, he joined the University of Washington. His research interests center around developing hybrid nanophotonic platforms using emerging material systems in optical information science, imaging, and microscopy. Majumdar has received multiple Young Investigator Awards from various organizations, including AFOSR and NSF, and notable recognitions such as the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship.
