Arka Majumdar is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at the University of Washington. He received his B. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2007, where he was honored with the President’s Gold Medal. He completed his Master’s degree in 2009 and Ph.D. in 2012 in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Majumdar pursued a postdoctoral position at the University of California, Berkeley, and at Intel Labs before joining the University of Washington. His research interests include developing hybrid nanophotonic platforms using emerging material systems, optical information science, imaging, and microscopy. Throughout his career, he has received multiple Young Investigator Awards from prestigious organizations and has been recognized with several honors, including fellowships from SPIE and Optica, as well as significant awards from DARPA and the National Science Foundation. Majumdar is also a co-founder and technical advisor of Tunoptix, a startup focused on commercializing software-defined meta-optics.
