Biography

Arlette Kolta is a full professor at the Faculty of Dentistry at the Université de Montréal, with a secondary affiliation in the Department of Neuroscience at the same institution. She has a background in neurological sciences, and her fundamental research employs electrophysiological, neuro-anatomical, and behavioral approaches to evaluate the role of proprioceptive muscle afferents in the development of chronic muscle pain. Currently, she is working on developing a model of oro-facial muscle pain and is interested in the circuits and cellular mechanisms involved in the generation of the rhythmic motor pattern of mastication, as well as the role of neuron-glial interactions in this process.
