Biography

Arman Oganisian is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at Brown University. He received his PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on developing Bayesian nonparametric methods for causal estimation, particularly in the context of estimating causal effects from sequential treatment decisions made under conditions of incomplete information. He blends principled causal reasoning with nonparametric Bayesian modeling and efficient computation to support data-driven decision making. His applied work addresses chronic diseases, emphasizing the need for ongoing treatment management rather than one-off solutions, with examples including cancer, HIV, osteoporosis, and hypertension. Currently, his research is partially funded by a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) contract, where he is developing Bayesian methods to estimate and optimize the effects of sequential treatment strategies in acute myeloid leukemia. He is also a principal investigator on a PCORI contract aimed at advancing causal estimation techniques in situations with incomplete covariate information. Oganisian supervises ScM and PhD students at Brown University.
