Dr. Armin Hatje

Biography

Armin Hatje is a Professor of Public Law and European Law at the University of Hamburg. His academic journey began with studies in law at universities in Hamburg and Lausanne, culminating in his doctoral promotion in 1987. He has held various significant academic positions, including roles as a scientific assistant at the University of Freiburg and serving the European University Institute in Florence. Since 1998, Hatje has been a crucial part of the University of Bielefeld's faculty, where he has greatly contributed to the field of Public Law, European Law, and International Law. His research and professional interests primarily focus on Public Law, European Law, and Economic Law within the internal market. He has published numerous works on subjects like the protection of candidates in European civil service law and the regulation of the internal market. In his leadership role since October 2006, he has served as the Managing Director of the European Law Department at the University of Hamburg, contributing to various committees and directing the Institute of European Integration. Hatje's commitment extends beyond academic publication; he is actively involved in editorial responsibilities for journals and has coordinated international education initiatives, particularly in collaboration with institutions in China.
