Biography

Armine Bagyan is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Statistics at Penn State University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Statistics from Penn State University in 2015 and holds an M.S. in Mathematics from Moscow State University. Dr. Bagyan is actively involved in academic service, serving as the Department Coordinator for the Graduate Minor in Statistics and participating in the Undergraduate Standing Committee and Non-Tenure Promotion Committee. He is also the undergraduate advisor for Statistics majors in the Schreyer Honors College. His research interests focus on limit theorems, probability inequalities, random positive definite matrices, and dimension reduction. Dr. Bagyan has published numerous articles regarding statistical theories and methodologies, contributing to the advancement of the field. His publications include works on asymptotic expansions, random walks on cones of positive definite matrices, and studies related to the spread of COVID-19 using continuous-time Markov chain models. He teaches a variety of courses including Elementary Probability, Applied Statistics, and Stochastic Modeling, among others.
