Dr. Arnie Purushotham

Biography

Professor Arnie Purushotham is a consultant academic surgeon with over 26 years of experience across Glasgow, Cambridge, and London. He specializes in breast cancer research and holds the position of Professor of Breast Cancer at King’s College London. Currently, he serves as a consultant surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and is the director of King's Health Partners Comprehensive Cancer Centre. His research primarily focuses on the patterns of metastatic spread, novel optical intra-operative imaging techniques, and MR elastography to predict patient response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. He is also involved in window of opportunity trials and studies aimed at prevention and early detection of cancer, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Professor Purushotham has made significant contributions to the understanding and treatment outcomes of cancer, and his clinical translational research is designed to have a direct impact on patient care. He is dedicated to improving cancer diagnoses and treatments, and his work addresses the delay challenges faced in cancer care delivery, especially in the context of recent global health issues.
