Arno Siraki received his Honours Bachelor of Science specializing in toxicology from the University of Toronto in 1998. He continued his graduate studies in the Department of Pharmacology, completing his MSc degree in 2000, with a thesis on the antioxidant and pro-oxidant nature of catecholamines. He then earned his PhD in 2004 from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Toronto, focusing on quantitative structure-activity relationships related to drug metabolism and xenobiotics. Following his doctoral studies, he undertook post-doctoral research at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, where he developed methods to detect free radicals in xenobiotic metabolism. Siraki was recruited to the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Alberta in 2008, where he is currently a Professor. His research interests are centered on the role of free radicals in drug toxicity, particularly in adverse drug reactions, exploring the biochemical mechanisms that underlie these reactions and the metabolic pathways leading to reactive metabolites. He is also involved in teaching undergraduates and graduates about pharmacology, toxicology, and drug metabolism.
