Dr. Aron Pamoso

Biography

Aron Harold Pamoso is a PhD candidate in Psychology at the Australian National University, specifically in the School of Medicine and Psychology within the ANU College of Science and Medicine. For the past six years, he has been dedicated to mentoring undergraduate psychology students in the Philippines and is currently pursuing his PhD while serving as a lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of San Carlos. Pamoso is a licensed psychometrician and HIV counselor in the Philippines, with a master's degree in clinical psychology from the University of San Carlos and a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation. His research interests lie in critical health and community psychology, focusing on health conditions associated with stigma and mental health, particularly within marginalized populations such as the LGBTQIA+ community and Indigenous Peoples. His work investigates how stigma and cultural factors shape health outcomes and examines issues such as HIV stigma, COVID-19 stigma, and experiences of Indigenous students across Southeast Asia. His ongoing PhD research addresses intersectionality and lived experience in the context of HIV mental health service provisions for gay and bisexual men.
