Biography

Arthur E. Attema is an Associate Professor of Health Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam's Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management. He specializes in behavioral experimental health economics, utility theory measurement, and intertemporal choice. Arthur has obtained an MSc degree in Economics from the University of Amsterdam, earned cum laude, as well as an MSc in Health Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He holds a PhD from the Erasmus School of Economics, focusing on intertemporal preferences and their applications in health economics under the supervision of Professors Han Bleichrodt and Peter P. Wakker. In addition to his academic role, Arthur serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Health Economics and has been actively involved in the management board of the Behavioral Experiments Health Network (BEHnet). He has received several prestigious awards, including the NVTAG MTA award, an EUR Fellowship, and the NWO Open Competition L Grant, reflecting his significant contributions to the field. In recognition of his quality-weighted publications, he was listed among the top economists in the Netherlands by ESB, securing the 20th position in their Top 25 Assistant/Associate Professors in 2024.
