Prof. Arthur Konnerth explores basic processes of brain function, focusing on electrophysiology, imaging, and cell biological approaches to understand synaptic interactions within neuronal circuits and the mechanisms underlying learning and memory. Currently, he is a Hertie Senior Professor of Neuroscience and a member of several prestigious academies, including the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Academia Europaea. He holds an honorary degree from the Medical University of Timisoara, Romania, and is a Carl-von-Linde Senior Fellow at TUM-IAS.
