Biography

Arthur Shores began his career as a Clinical Neuropsychologist at Westmead Hospital, where he initially developed the Westmead PTA Scale. He later joined Macquarie University, where he continued his research on measuring post-traumatic amnesia. He has long been involved as the Director of Postgraduate Neuropsychology programs and also runs a private Medicolegal Neuropsychological Consultancy. Even after retirement, he remained active in research and holds an appointment as a Clinical Mentor (non-practicing) at Advanced Neuropsychological Treatment Services, a Sydney-based private neuropsychology practice, closely affiliated with Macquarie University. His keen interests include the formulation of complex matters, research supervision, and encouraging critical thinking and evidence-based practices among junior practitioners. He has special interests in diagnostic accuracy of screening tools, detection of deception, and substance use disorders, particularly in the context of sports-related concussions.
