Dr. Arthur Van Benthem

Biography

Arthur Van Benthem is a Professor of Business Economics and Public Policy at the University of Pennsylvania, where he also serves as Faculty Co-Director of the Wharton Climate Center. His research focuses on energy economics, environmental economics, and public economics. Notably, Arthur's work examines the unintended consequences of environmental legislation and natural resource taxation. He earned his PhD in Economics from Stanford University in 2012, following a masters degree in Management Science & Engineering from the same institution and an undergraduate degree from the University of Amsterdam. Before pursuing his doctorate, he held roles at Royal Dutch Shell, where he worked as a corporate strategy energy economist on the Long-Term Energy Scenarios Team. In his undergraduate studies, Arthur gained experience as a stock trader with IMC Trading in Amsterdam.
