Biography

Arul Jayaraman is a Professor at Texas A&M University in the Department of Chemical Engineering, where he serves as the Executive Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and is the Associate Agency Director of the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station. He holds the Ray B. Nesbitt Endowed Chair and is also an affiliated faculty member in Biomedical Engineering. His educational background includes a Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, an M.S. from Tufts University, and a B.S. from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science. Jayaraman's research interests focus on molecular systems biotechnology, particularly utilizing integrated experimental modeling approaches to tackle challenges in human health and medicine. He investigates systems biology, cytokine signaling, inflammatory diseases, inter-kingdom signaling interactions between bacteria and human cells, gastrointestinal tract infections, development of microfluidic model systems, combinatorial drug screening, and vascular tissue engineering. Through his notable work, he has earned recognition as a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and has been honored with various awards including the Texas A&M Presidential Impact Fellow and the Texas Engineering Experiment Station Select Fellow.
