Biography

Professor Arun Ghosh is involved in multidisciplinary research projects in synthetic organic and bioorganic medicinal chemistry. His research primarily focuses on the synthesis and biological studies of bioactive natural products, as well as the design and synthesis of molecular probes, bioactive peptides, and proteins. His group explores critical ligand-binding site interactions in proteolytic enzymes, including memapsin 2, which is significant for Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, he investigates the chemistry and biology of anticancer agents such as laulimalide and peloruside. Ghosh's research interests also encompass the development of new synthetic methodologies, particularly focusing on asymmetric reactions based on intermolecular and intramolecular metal chelations, along with syn-anti selective aldol reactions and multicomponent reactions (MCR). With a strong academic background, he has earned multiple awards and recognitions in the field of medicinal chemistry.
