Biography

Arunasingam Abayasingam completed his Bachelor's Degree in Science Honours at the University of New South Wales in 2016, specializing in Medicine and Health Pathology. His research centers around pathology and pharmacology, specifically investigating the effects of epidermal growth factor receptor-targeted metabolic inhibitor combination therapy in osteosarcomas. Since 2017, he has been a Postgraduate Student within the Viral Immunology Systems Program under the supervision of Dr. Rowena Bull and Dr. Chaturaka Rodrigo. His current projects involve characterizing the Hepatitis C (HCV) Transmitted/Founder virus, understanding host-viral interaction during acute HCV infection, and exploring host-viral interactions in HCV re-infection. The findings from his current research have the potential to contribute to the design of effective protective vaccines for HCV.
